Abandoned by her husband, devoted mother Sally Goodson (Kirstie Alley) manages to keep her sixteen-year-old autistic son David (Michael Goorjian) out of the system until a social worker, Gladys Johnson (Phylicia Rashad) enters their lives.

 

Stellar performances from supporting cast (Stockard Channing, Chris Sarandon, Sam Waterston) adds to this amazing film.

 

NOTE: The made-for-TV movie received several awards and nominations. Kirstie Alley and Michael Goorjian both received Emmy Awards for their roles in the film; Alley was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
